We are always fighting ourselves to get that extra inner peace while sipping coffee between short breaks at office, or while staring blankly through the window of 9th Floor to see the sunset and we are sitting with loads of work piled up waiting to be finished.
This is what our lives have become after we enter 25 years of age, we must quickly chalk out a plan to achieve our goals decided by our parents and the society before we turn 30. What is more painful is that we abide by it and work our ass off to turn that determination into reality, and in the process losing ourselves completely.
Some are lucky enough to be born with a silver spoon in their mouth, they graduate out of top B-schools and get the job at their feet waiting for them to hire. They start off with a perfect life. The actual struggle is faced by the middle-class people who must strive to become better in this rat race to reach at the top.
Our parents struggling to make ends meet and we are working hard to sustain our daily needs only to be sacked by private companies when they can’t afford to keep their organization in once piece or when they have made enough profit.
In this race of daily life, we lose ourselves, every new year is like a new hope that we will make new resolutions of solo travel or just go on a family vacations during Christmas or Diwali, only to learn in the third month of the year that the resolutions are going to go in vain.
The money kept aside for small vacation is used into something more important like replacing the old refrigerator of 20 years which is tired from functioning daily. Even it is screaming to be left in peace. Our budget is fixed and there are too many things to spend on.
For School outing or college excursion, our parents think about house-hold expenses first to accommodate our excursion cost and to cut out on something which is not important how to spend the month with ease and less tension, but it never seems to happen.
Somehow one of the siblings end up giving up something so that the other one could go for the school tour. Or the entire family just spend their weekend sitting at home watching movie on TV instead of going out to watch it in theaters.
However, we learned that we must let go of our desires, instead have to settle for something which is “good for the entire family” and letting our desires go in VAIN.
Life is hard, and people are even harder to deal with, but we must go on…………
I just wish things were a little more affordable. I don’t know how people with kids do it, because even without kids it’s hard.
I agree, it is difficult to manage everything on a tight budget and so many things to do…Thanks for reading :)
Growing up in a small town in the PHILIPPINES, I learned at a young age that money was not easy to come by. The only way out of poverty is to study hard, get a degree and work your hardest. Fortunately or unfortunately, we are trained from the very beginning to be compromising and sacrificing our desires for the sake of our family. I think what we should emphasize on is to teach our kids to be able to achieve their dreams and fulfill their desires by working hard instead of training them to suppress their wishes. It is also equally important to point out to them why their wish can’t be fulfilled at that time. If finance is an issue, it’s important that we talk about it to our kids and make them understand the importance.
Appreciate your thoughts and I agree, talking to our kids with openly regarding finance issues will actually help them build a strong hold on how they would manage theirs when they grow up.
I have always preferred to think of myself as in control (with God’s guidance) rather than being controlled or victimized by the situation. I own my own business rather than work for someone and the choices are mine.
Yes it is better to work hard and take the credit for yourself rather than anyone else taking it. Thanks for reading :)
Hard work pays off is really a great quote for me. I really need to practice more on using and budgeting money in a right way.
Agreed! Thanks for dropping by, :)
Your words speak so much truth. We have a tendency to rush things and we have been thought to put our desires aside. We struggle to achieve so many things, yet we forget to be satisfied with our success. We sacrifice all and at the end we are left with the regret we haven’t enjoyed this journey called life…
This struggle can only be felt bu the middle class people who has to let go of so many things in the process of achieving something big.
Thanks for reading.
We’re living in a weird time where everyone wants to be rich, but no one wants to admit that they are. Middle-class people aren’t really rich-rich either, but they experience a level of comfort and accessibility to the world that doesn’t exist for the poor.
Yes that is the reason why we can’t complain about the hurdles either because we are in some ways getting some comfort and somewhere are not getting privileges.
I have been thinking about this topic especially lately, and it can really get someone down. Learning how to just stop and appreciate things we have is a must.
Yes I agree with you. Thanks for reading. :)
So true! I am from a middle class family. We need to work hard to get a better life. In the end we understand that we haven’t enjoyed our life.
Yes, we often miss out on our own happiness while trying to provide for ourselves in little things. Thanks for reading :)
My husband and I both come from middle class families and when he and I started our lives together, we didn’t ask for help from family. We did without a lot of things but were just so happy to have each other. Super hard work and perseverance got us where we are, but I truly believe it means nothing if you can’t be happy without all the fluff.
So true! If you have the right companion it can pull you through anything. Thanks for reading :)
Interesting post – some great tips and advice here! I will definitely have to take some of this on board next time I am thinking about what is truly important to me x
